COMPANY DJIGUIYA: " THE SHOUT OF THE HOPE "

Kind : Contemporary

Prize list : Prize-winner of the National Week ( B.F), MASA on 2003

Date of creation : 15/10/1999

After its launch on 27 February under the chairmanship of Ms. Yvette Bakaba, the Administrator of the Palace, and Mr. Siba Soyié Vincent, President of the National Federation of dance companies (FNCD), the "Season of Dance" initiated by the Palace Culture has actually started Friday, March 5 with the company "Djiguiya" Mrs. Salimata Drabo. A group created only in 1999 (October) but who is already confirmed: Winner of the Week National Bobodioulasso in 2000 with his first creation ( "A child on the street") and selected MASA 2003 with "The Cry of Hope "which is presented here as part of this" Season of Dance "Palace of Culture. Designed by Philippe Irie Bi Irie, the show is staged and "choreographed" by Theodore Yao Mosso assisted Lucien Koffi Amani. It is a "contemporary dance" mimicking the suffering of Africa, slavery (the "slave"), the "neo-colonialism" - both mental and economic - has yet sunk the continent: degradation of morals, crime, drugs, reckless exploitation of its resources ... Hence the rate of male spectacle reflecting the cruelties of the slave past and the brutality of the "new civilization dehumanizing" symbolized here by the brutal dance punks victims of the system in our major cities today. Africa remains chained, but there is hope: the chains will fall safely through a collective awareness through new including a "cultural revival" (the triumph of "Gbegbe" towards the end of the show) and also grace of God "for equality between men (hence the gathering around the man of God at the end) ..." The cry of hope "is ultimately an ode to freedom and equality between men. The all expressed in a refined style and a harmonious choreographed movement, where young dancers enthusiastically give the best of themselves. Special mention Djibril Diabate on balafon, which reminds us the virtuoso Ali Keita by crying that African musical instrument that really has enormous possibilities for percussion. A group of the future. The group "Djiguiya" every Friday at 20 pm and Saturdays at 15 pm in the Niangoran Porquet Palace of Culture. And until March 27.
