ZADI ZAOUROU
CENTER OF THE RESOURCES IS OPENING

The ceremony organized on Saturday the 2 of July for the opening of Bernard zadi Zaourou resources Centre, was a pleasant one. Something important was missing concerning the variety of cultural and artistic activities whose promotion is assured by Abidjan palace of the culture until now: culture acquired from books. From now on, with the Center of the resources baptized with the name of one of the greatest cultural personalities of Côte d'Ivoire, Abidjan palace of the culture possesses "a space where everyone will be able to go back to his or her roots, communicate with the great wise men of the world", according to Ayala.

Thus, The Arts Centre Manager wishes that this resources center breathes a part of Mr. Zadi Zaourou's personality, a great man of literature. According to Abidjan Arts Centre Manager, he is the right man whose name has to be given to this centre, he, "the prisoner of books" as he was happy to say himself.

Bernard Bernard Zadi Zaourou has enormously appreciated the tribute that the Arts Centre has paid to him, and declared: "I would like to thank my young brother Sidiki Bakaba with whom I have a great past. Together, we have led some battles. He is a fierce militant of culture and art who receives some blows but who can also give some. This act went to my heart for it is always pleasant to notice an act of gratitude".

On this occasion, Minister Zadi in his turn, has paid tribute to Bernard Dadie, the father of Ivorian modern literature (his prestigious name is given to the huge open-air theatre of Anoumabo Space), about Dadie, he said: "there is Dadie on the one hand and there are other Ivoirians in the field of art and literature on the other hand. He is our spiritual father"

Before the ribbon cut for the effective opening of the resources centre, some students of Actor Studio led by their famous Master, made some show readings extracts from Zadi Zaourou works such as "la guerre des femmes", "les sofas" and "l'oeil". Professor Zadi in his turn has played the musical arch, a traditional instrument he contributed to promote.

A performance very appreciated by Mr. Diegou Bailly (head of audiovisual communication national council), Mr. Koffi Kossonou (Manager of the book at the Ministry of culture), and Mrs. Nicole Vincileoni (University Professor), journalists, Sidiki Bakaba fan club members who came in great number and by all the audience.

A guided tour of the three components of the resources centre( library, video library, cyber) followed by the screening of the documentary "LOS PALENQUEROS" (which Minister Zadi and Mrs. Nicole Vincileoni wished to watch)put an end to the opening ceremony. It is important to know that many gifts have been received concerning documentations. For instance, those of the association "Le Francais en partage", and US embassy , Popular Republic of China, Israel, Britain and Netherlands, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. A partnership with the association of Ivorian publishers also allowed acquiring books. Special offers of books sale were made by some bookshops as well. Elsewhere, Mr. and Mrs. Bakaba gave to the Resources Centre some documentaries from their own works.
